Tips on How to Engage More People on Instagram

How you can get more people to see your content:

  1. Add a location. This is a geotag and will populate onto the applicable geographical page allocated to this place. It is not a promise that you will go viral but it will give your content another chance at being seen.

  2. Add Collaborators to the post. This can only be done BEFORE you post. After you have posted your content, this option is no longer available. Adding a collaborator allows this specific post to live on your collaborators main feed. Unlike tagging someone on a post where this lives on their mentions page (the third option after reels on someone's feed) you now have access to this person's network. When they get a like, you get a like.

  3. Find music on Instagram that is not just about to trend. If you are looking for your video to go viral then you ideally would like to use a song that is seeing traction on Instagram around the 150K mark and growing you will see an arrow beside the title of the song if it is trending. You need to move fast! (First mover advantage!) If you use a song that is already viral (600K+) your content will now be competing against the thousands of creators, businesses, and Instagrammers who want to follow the trend. You are looking for emerging trends.

  4. Tag and hashtag applicable companies or agencies that would also benefit from this content. Ex: @360immersion, #explorecanada

Overall, success for your posts is based on how many people will see it! The more people who see and engage with your content (likes, shares, comments, saves) the better for your business page. Know who your audience is and how they behave, know the key players and strategic partners of your industry, and share this content with the people who helped piece it together.
